ASSE ENY Chapter Meeting: Rigging Safety
The Eastern New York Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers is proud to announce the following technical meeting on September 11th, 2017 at Wolf’s 111 Restaurant in Colonie, NY, beginning at 5:30 pm:
Topic: RIGGING SAFETY
The presentation will cover the basics of lift planning including load weight, center of gravity, and the math of rigging (i.e. Sling tensions).
Presenter: Steve Dewey
Steve is a principal and partner with his brother in All-Lifts with 40 years of experience in the rigging equipment business. Having worked in the actual fabrications shops for wire rope and nylon slings at All-Lifts Steve has acquired a vast amount of hands on knowledge. They and the All-lifts team have helped design lifting plans, design, fabricate and test lifting arrangements from 500 lbs. to 500 tons.
Steve is well known for his ability as a professional instructor in “Safe Rigging Practices”. Over the past 30 years he has trained employees for various construction and manufacturing Companies from NY, VT, CT, NJ and PA. He is an NCCCO certified rigger and certified by The Crosby Group as a rigging instructor.
Networking in the bar area begins at 5:00 with a cash bar, and dinner will be served in the private room at 6 PM, followed by the presentation at 6:45 PM. The cost of the event is $25 and includes: meal, desert, coffee and tea. Soda and alcoholic beverages will be available at an additional charge at the bar.
