"NWZAW is coming April 11-15


National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) spreads awareness of work zone safety across the country with the involvement of organizations and individuals like you. Continue to make your plans to participate – there are various ways to do so!


Participate in daily commemorations

  • April 11 – Work Zone Safety Training Day

  • April 12 – National kickoff event (hosted by Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT))

  • April 13 – Go Orange Day

  • April 14 – Social media storm

  • April 15 – Moment of Silence (new for 2022)


Work Zones are a Sign to Slow Down


The NWZAW 2022 kickoff event will be hosted by VDOT and held near the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion Project in Virginia. The event starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Fort Monroe Continental Gazebo, 4 Fenwick Road, Hampton, Va.


Plan your event, promote NWZAW and use social media


Plan your own community event with help from the comprehensive “NWZAW Event Planning Guide.” Then submit your event to be posted on NWZAW.org for others to find.


Spread the word about NWZAW using the “NWZAW Event Promotion Guide.”


Follow and use #NWZAW and #WorkZoneSafety on social media. Include #Orange4Safety on Wednesday’s Go Orange Day.
