"It's a new year however, these pedestrian safety tips haven't changed. Continue to follow these pedestrian safety tips to ensure you stay safe when walking outside.

Always walk against traffic.

Walk as close to the left side of the road possible using the shoulder or sidewalk, if available.

When attempting to cross, always look left, right, and left again.

Use crosswalks and obey crossing signals.

Don't text while crossing.

To learn more about pedestrian safety tips, check out the Governor's Traffic Safety website ( https://trafficsafety.ny.gov/tips-pedestrian-safety )."
