Silica in Construction Training

OSHA estimates more than an estimated 2.2 million workers are exposed to respirable crystalline silica. Exposure can have serious adverse health effects. Some examples include silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), renal failure and lung cancer. The standard also establishes medical surveillance requirements that are very different than previous standards related to asbestos and respiratory protection. What the course will cover: It will include a comprehensive review of the standard related to sampling requirements, limiting access to high exposure areas, control measures, medical surveillance and training requirements for employees. The standard also has added new provisions to protect employee privacy that severely limit the information medical providers can release to employers.
