"Wind Safety in Winter Weather!

Follow these High Wind Safety Tips:

Dress in Layers

Wear windproof and waterproof outer layers to protect against windchill and prevent heat loss.

Use gloves, scarves, and hats to shield your hands, neck and head, reducing the risk of frostbite.

Watch for Flying Debris

High winds can pick up loose objects - avoid areas with unsecured items.

Avoid Walking on Ice

Wind can make icy surfaces even more slippery, increasing the risk of falls.

Secure Outdoor Items

Tie down or bring in items like patio furniture or decorations to prevent them from being blown away.

Drive Cautiously

Strong winds can affect vehicle stability; keep a firm grip on the wheel and reduce speed.

Stay Warm Indoors

Keep your home well-heated, seal drafts, and use blankets to stay cozy during windy winter days.

Report Downed Powerlines

Stay at least 30 feet away and immediately report downed lines to your utility company or local authorities.

Stay Updated

Monitor weather forecasts and avoid going out in severe wind conditions unless necessary.
